When you're in Stockholm for a bit longer, a trip to Sandhamn with Strömma Kanal could be the perfect daytrip. Sandhamn is a beautiful rather small island in the outer archipelago, very popular for sailors. And tourists. There are many restaurants with a view on the water and there are those typical swedish houses, nice viewpoints and you can see water until the horizon. There are different possibilities to get to Sandhamn. You can take the regular boats of Waxholmsbolaget that take a bit longer as they stop on many islands. Or the Cinderella-boats (also by Strömma) that go there directly on the same way. Or, my favourite one: Go there with Strömma Kanal. The special thing about it: It's a rather small boat built to go through the beautiful canals. So it goes a different way and you can enjoy some beautiful landscape on your way to Sandhamn and back that you wouldn't see otherwise. You can also go to the front of the boat to have a great view while driving through the canals. It might get windy and wet at times, there are many comfortable seats on top of the boat as well as inside, there is a café with food and drinks and you can even book lunch. And there is a guide on board that provides you with many interesting informations about the places you can see. Also there is a free guided tour included on Sandhamn (or you can of course also discover the island on your own). Strömma even provides a list with things to see and do on Sandhamn. Make sure to walk around on the island, always with respecting the privacy of the people living there.

The tour takes place from mid-June to the end of August from Tuesday to Sunday, starts at Nybrohamnen (where the Radisson Blu-hotel is) at 09:45h and you're back in Stockholm at 17:45h, with two hours of time to discover Sandhamn during lunchtime. The price (SEK 455) is really good in my opinion and you'll have an unforgettable daytrip for sure! Find all the additional information on Strömma's website and enjoy!
